Short-term (daily) changes in sediment height

It has recently been demonstrated that short-term (daily) changes in sediment height are an important guiding parameter for the ecological development (i.e. ecological quality) of tidal flats. The NIOZ has recently developed an optical SED sensor, which measures the sediment height during low tide. The acoustic SED sensor is considerably cheaper and can measure under water. By measuring under water, the sediment dynamics can be better understood.
