The flood risks in this pilot area are predominantly fluvial and pluvial. Hard surfaces in urban areas and reduced number of gardens in favor of parking are exacerbating issues. The Stockton-on-Tees community have suffered from repeated flooding for the past 50 years, the most recent of which occurred in 2012. Other notable flood events have also been recorded in 1941, 1958, 1960 and 1979 ({{Cite|resource=Bestand:21 lustrum.pdf|name=Reed and Thomas, 2012|dialog=process-file-dialog}}).

Flood risks

The flood risks in this pilot area are predominantly fluvial and pluvial. Hard surfaces in urban areas and reduced number of gardens in favor of parking are exacerbating issues. The Stockton-on-Tees community have suffered from repeated flooding for the past 50 years, the most recent of which occurred in 2012. Other notable flood events have also been recorded in 1941, 1958, 1960 and 1979 (Reed and Thomas, 2012).
