|Profiletext=Dr. ir. Niels Groot is lector Water Technology bij HZ University of Applied Sciences en waterspecialist bij Dow Benelux in Terneuzen. Niels is chemisch technoloog met een PhD in Katalyse (Technische Universiteit Eindhoven). Bij Dow werkt hij als interne water- en afvalwater adviseur, ondersteunend voor Dow’s productielocaties. Voor Dow Terneuzen leidt Niels de implementatie en continue verbetering van een robuust water systeem in nauwe samenwerking met Evides, Waterschap Scheldestromen en andere externe partners.

Niels is a chemical engineer with a PhD in Catalysis (Technical University Eindhoven). He is employed as an internal water and waste water advisor at Dow, supporting Dow’s production locations.  
As a professor at HZ, Niels is actively involved in initiatives for fresh water provision and water reuse in the region of Zeeland through cooperation with a variety of national and international parties. One example of this is his ongoing involvement in the the implementation and continuous improvement of a robust water system for the area of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, in close consultation with Dow, Evides, the Water Board, the Province of Zeeland, local agricultural parties and other stakeholders.
Aside from his work in research, Niels is also involved in giving guest lectures on his specialist topics in the course Advanced Water Technology for the BSc programme Water Management: Aquatic Eco Technology.

Dr Niels Groot is both a Water Technology professor at HZ University of Applied Sciences and a Water Specialist at Dow Benelux in Terneuzen.
