|Profiletext=Emma McAteer MSc is docent-onderzoeker bij onderzoeksgroep Water Technology. In 2010 behaalde Emma haar masterdiploma in Environmental Engineering bij Queen’s University Belfast in Noord-Ierland. Voordat Emma naar Nederland verhuisde was zij twee jaar werkzaam in de afvalwaterzuivering industrie in Noord-Ierland.
|Profiletext=Emma McAteer is the Coordinator of the Water Technology Research Group within HZ University of Applied Sciences. She joined HZ in 2015 and in her capacity as researcher and now coordinator of this group she has worked on various projects, such as; NEREUS (New Energy and Resources for Urban Sanitation), FRESH4Cs (Alternative Fresh Water resources for Coastal Areas) and “Wetlands as pre-treatment for mild desalination”.  
 
Aside from her work with the research group Emma is a lecturer in water technology for the Bachelor Programme BSc Water Management: Aquatic Eco Technology.
Emma werkt aan verschillende onderzoeksprojecten voor het lectoraat Water Technology. Zo werkt zij onder andere aan de projecten NEREUS en FRESH4Cs, dit laatste project richt zich op het creeëren van alternatieve zoetwatervoorzieningen in kustgebieden voor landbouw, industrie en andere watergebruikers.
Emma graduated with a Master in Environmental Engineering from Queen’s University of Belfast, Northern Ireland in 2010 and worked for several years as a process engineer for small-scale domestic and commercial biological wastewater treatment plants in Northern Ireland before joining HZ.
Naast haar onderzoek, geeft Emma tevens les binnen het Water Management bachelor programma. Emma geeft les in chemie aan de eerstejaars studenten en de vakken ecologische water kwaliteit en watervervuiling en -behandeling in het tweede jaar. Aan de vierdejaars afstudeerders geeft zij tevens les in het vak geavanceerde watertechnologie.
