The sediment concentration in the water is an important control parameter for the morphological development of intertidal mudflats and plates. Spatial measurements are very limited due to the high costs of using existing measuring instruments. A number of new low-cost sensors are being tested, enabling them to be used on a large scale to measure spatial patterns.
