Rianne de Pooter is a lecturer and testing expert at HZ University of Applied Sciences. 'I am a real teacher trainer: I like to see how someone develops into a good teacher and to contribute a little to that.' Rianne graduated as a primary school teacher in 1990. However her dream job was teaching future primary school teachers, so she first obtained her bachelor's degree in Pedagogy in Rotterdam and taught at Albeda College and than obtained her Master of Education at the University at Greenwich. For this course she conducted research into important factors in supervising student research. In 2005 Rianne became a teacher training teacher at the teacher training college at Fontys University of Applied Sciences, subsequently at Hogeschool de Kempel in Helmond and at HZ University of Applied Sciences. She teaches research classes here and is a testing expert. During her career Rianne has built up both practical and research expertise in supervising student research in higher professional education. Among other things she conducted research into the development of evaluative judgement: learning to recognize the quality in one's own work and that of others. To achieve this students need to read a lot, compare and rank texts and learn to give each other feedback. She is currently conducting research into the guidance of students during research: what does support mean for students, what do they get out of it and what form of support is the most successful? 'I notice that many HBO students experience research as a complex skill, for which good guidance is very important. How we can best prepare, guide and support students in graduation research, how we can teach them research skills and how we take them into an investigative professional attitude remain recurring questions.' By gaining insight into the relationship between supervision style and student motivation, she hopes to be able to make recommendations to graduation supervisors that stimulate motivation during graduation research.
Rianne van der Feen-Kooiman is a lecturer-researcher at the Excellence and Innovation in Education lectureship. 'More inclusive education occurs when an environment can adapt to the needs of the student. In contrast to individualistic customization that increases workload, close networks enable us to be more inclusive.' Rianne trained as a drama teacher at the School of the Arts in Arnhem and subsequently worked as a theater maker and actor abroad for ten years. She therefore first taught acting at the theater school in Seattle and Prague and then obtained her bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of Washington. She conducted research into fall prevention in psychogeriatrics at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and completed a master's degree in Nursing Specialist. Given her education, it was logical that she worked as a nurse specialist in a nursing home for some time, but ultimately education suited her better: first as a Healthcare and Welfare teacher in Rotterdam and now as a Nursing teacher in Vlissingen. She recently graduated from Radboud University as an ECHA Gifted Specialist. Based on her expertise and affinity, Rianne conducts research in the field of inclusive education in the Excellence and Innovation in Education professorship. 'The question is not whether we should do something with inclusion, such as dealing more consciously with brain diversity, but how we can best approach this in order to contribute to equal opportunities in our education.' She is the initiator of various projects. Firstly, the Brain Diversity project, which explores which methods and tools can be developed for students, teachers and study career coaches at the HZ University of Applied Sciences to support them in more inclusive education, and secondly, the Workshop for Educational Research on Giftedness Zeeland, which, together with stakeholders from all education sectors, examines the continuous line of primary, secondary, vocational and higher professional education. Finally, she is preparing a PhD research at the University of Groningen for which she is also investigating the topic of more inclusive higher education.
After sixteen years working in industry as an energy technologist, Roel has been working as a lecturer-researcher in the Delta Power research group since November 2021. Over the years, he has gained broad knowledge and experience around energy transition in industry and the built environment. This includes the implementation of renewable energy generation, system integration, storage techniques of heat and electricity, application of (green) hydrogen and issues related to the heat transition. "It is incredibly fun, but also important to share technical knowledge and experience with our future engineers. Through Delta Power I would like to make my contribution, to strengthen the connection between education and research."  +
Rosalina Boer-Wirken is a lecturer-researcher at the Excellence and Innovation in Education lectureship. 'My heart lies in creating equal opportunities for all pupils and students in education' Rosalina completed her teacher training at Thomas More University of Applied Sciences in Rotterdam. She then obtained her master's degree in Special and Inclusive in Education in London, where she conducted research into the continuous line from primary to secondary education in the Netherlands. This is also one of the themes that Rosalina focuses on in the research group. After her studies, Rosalina taught for more than twelve years in secondary special education cluster 4. After this, she worked at the Center for Forming Education and focused on Catholic education within the diocese of Breda as a project employee. Rosalina also contributed to the primary school method Houvast op school. Since 2021, she has been working as a teacher of philosophy of life and age specialization for older children for teacher training at HZ University of Applied Sciences. As a teacher-researcher Rosalina believes it is important to use her expertise and practical experience to achieve equal opportunities for everyone. She focuses, among other things, on student development and social-emotional safety to create an optimal learning environment. She works carefully with the educational practice, so that educational professionals and students can benefit from the results as directly as possible. Rosalina is currently involved in various studies as a teacher-researcher. For example, she is project leader of the Po-vo Educational Research Workshop, which conducts research into creating rich opportunities in the transition from primary school to secondary education.
