Facts

  • Country: The Netherlands
  • Type of provider: campsite
  • Focus:
    • Reduce: With the rainwater storage tank, solar connectors and heat pump boilers camping Kreekebos reduces their use of energy and water.

Summary of the project

The solar collectors supply about 1000 liters of hot water per day and the heat pump boilers, which make hot water by extracting ventilation air from the shower room, provide the other half. Even in cloudy weather , the collectors and boilers supply the full capacity of hot water .

The flushing of the toilets is done with the aid of rainwater, to make this possible we have dug in a rainwater storage tank of 20 M3. This allows Camping Kreekebos to collect rainwater, and store it temporarily, to be able to flush toilets afterwards. The rainwater is so pure that there is no difference with 'normal' water.

PRACTICE

Rainwater storage tanks

At a campsite a lot of (warm) water is needed every day, because everyone wants to be able to shower and wash when they are camping. At a campsite such as the Kreekebos campsite, about 2000 liters of warm water is needed per day. To reduce the burden on the environment, they have therefore invested in solar collectors and heat pump boilers.
